Veracity Savant

Shaboozey isn’t slowing down. Fresh off the chart-smashing success of “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” and the current reign of “Good News” on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart, he’s adding another title to his growing list of accomplishments: label head, Billboard reports.

The Virginia-bred star is expanding his joint venture label, “American Dogwood,” with EMPIRE, and his first signing is country phenom Kevin Powers. Much like Shaboozey, Powers moves fluidly across genres, weaving hip-hop, pop, and country into his own lane. Their first joint release, “Move On,” drops September 19.

Powers isn’t new to the spotlight. His 2020 single “Walked In” went viral, pulling in more than 22 million streams on Spotify. “How You Been” followed that, which clocked over 14.5 million streams. And he’s already proven his songwriting chops, co-writing “Amen,” Shaboozey’s emotional duet with Jelly Roll, which peaked at No. 16 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart earlier this year.

“American Dogwood is a tribute to where we come from, and to the artists, storytellers, and creators who make this life remarkable,” Shaboozey said in a statement about the new label. “Our mission is to nurture the next generation of voices and to give them a place to grow, connect, and create. This is the beginning of a new chapter — one I hope always feels like home.”

Powers, who grew up in Raleigh before moving to Nashville, is just as hyped. “I couldn’t be more excited to join the American Dogwood family,” he said. “My first release, ‘Move On’ featuring Shaboozey, is about what happens when a relationship ends — how some people can let go, while others hold on longer than they should. It’s a story I think a lot of people will connect with, and I couldn’t imagine a better way to begin this journey than sharing it with Shaboozey by my side.”

Shaboozey will run the label alongside his Range Media Partners managers Jared Cotter and Abas Pauti, with EMPIRE providing the global backbone.

If that wasn’t enough, fans will see all of this energy live when the 12-date Great America Road Show tour kicks off September 22 in Indianapolis, with stops in Detroit, New Orleans, and Houston, before wrapping up October 16 in Orlando. Powers will open the tour, making their collaboration a full-circle moment from studio to stage.

Shaboozey’s expansion into label leadership is just the latest flex in a record-breaking year. With “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” holding the record for the most weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for a solo act at 19 non-consecutive weeks, and now building a platform to spotlight new talent, Shaboozey is proving he’s here to stay!
