What Their Social Media Says Before the First Date Even Starts

So you matched.
You’re vibin’.
Numbers were exchanged, the banter was smooth… and now it’s time for the real first impression: the scroll.

Because in 2025, you don’t really go on a first date until you go on a deep dive.
Instagram. Threads. TikTok if you’re brave. You might even hit LinkedIn if you’re trying to see if they really got a job and not just “entrepreneur” in the bio.

And we’re not judging.
We’re just gathering context—with care and a lil’ curiosity.

Their feed is their soft launch

You can tell so much before you ever link up:

  • Is it giving “gym is life” or “vibes and vibes only”?
  • Do they post their friends or just selfies and side profiles?
  • Is there still an old baecation flick hanging out in the carousel?

We’re not saying their feed needs to be a TED Talk, but if everything feels over-curated and you still don’t know what their voice sounds like? Yeah. Proceed with caution.

As Drake once said,
“Know yourself, know your worth.”
And sometimes their page will show you exactly what they value—and what they don’t.

The captions tell a story… or don’t

“Big energy only.”
“Locked in.”
“Caption this 😏”

Okay… but what are you really saying?

Not everybody’s trying to write a memoir under their selfie, but if every caption sounds like a rap lyric with no meaning behind it, you might be dating the vibe, not the substance.

On the flip side—someone who gets a little vulnerable? Shares a real moment? Reflects between thirst traps? Emotional range, baby. And emotional range is sexy.

The stories are where the plot unfolds

Feed posts are curated.
Stories are chaotic honesty.

That’s where you’ll catch:

  • The 3AM “Can’t trust nobody” post
  • 18 reposts of “Motivation Monday” (but no moves being made)
  • Or your favorite: cryptic memes that feel like subtweets with a Wi-Fi connection

If their story looks like a digital diary, just know you’re already somewhere mid-season—and you haven’t even filmed your intro scene yet.

The comment section is the real tea

Forget captions.
Go to the comments.

  • Who’s always sliding in with the 😍 and “my turn next”?
  • Are they showing love to their circle or just hearting comments like an NFT collector?
  • Do they engage like a human or is it giving “appreciate it fam 🙏🏽” on every post?

How they move in their comments often mirrors how they’ll move with you.

Social media isn’t everything… but it’s definitely something.

It’s their personal highlight reel.
Their digital diary.
Their billboard to the world.

If their page is confusing, messy, or inconsistent, that’s a small window into how the relationship might feel, too.

MVEMNT says:
Scroll wisely. Observe quietly. Then put your phone down and get your answers the old-fashioned way: face to face.

Because the ‘gram might show you the trailer
but love? That’s always found in the unfiltered, unposted moments.
