Angela Walker, owner of the award-winning “N Natural Hair Studio” in Silver Spring, is giving back in a big way. This Sunday, November 2nd, Walker is opening her TWST Bar Pop-Up, her brick-and-mortar concept, to offer free hair services to furloughed government workers and any government employee who has unexpectedly lost their job. The services, which typically cost $95, are being gifted as an act of compassion and community care.
Walker says she was inspired by how something as simple as hair care can impact one’s confidence and mental health during tough times.
“We often overlook how self-maintenance is a key part of mental health — especially for women and men navigating seasons of hopelessness, worry, and uncertainty,” Walker shared via statement. Her goal is to help people feel cared for, confident, and job-interview-ready again.
The TWST Bar Pop-Up Series is Walker’s way of merging community, culture, and her signature twist experience in new spaces and cities, because, as she says, great hair should travel. Following the Silver Spring event, the pop-up will continue with stops in Baltimore and Alexandria throughout November.
In a world where self-care often feels like a luxury, Walker’s generosity reminds us that sometimes, it’s the simple acts, a fresh twist, a kind gesture, a moment in the chair, that can help people rebuild their confidence and restore their hope.
