Veracity Savant

Mariah Carey is taking her talents from Madison Square Garden to the middle of the Amazon, and the stage setup alone sounds legendary. The superstar has been tapped to headline the Amazônia Live – Today and Always concert on Sept. 17, performing on a floating stage in the middle of Brazil’s Guamá River in Belém, Billboard reports. Yes, you read that right—Mariah will literally be floating on a massive flower, inspired by the Victoria Amazonica plant, while belting out her classics as the sun sets over the rainforest.

The event isn’t just for the vibes, though. The show aims to highlight the importance of protecting the Amazon Rainforest, often called the “lungs of the Earth,” ahead of the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Belém.

Organizers explained, “With the conference taking place in November, Amazônia Live – Today and Always with Mariah Carey spotlights the need to keep the forest standing by protecting its indigenous peoples, encouraging the bioeconomy, restoring degraded lands, and reforesting – thus contributing to the global challenge of reducing carbon emissions.”

Of course, Mariah won’t be the only one hitting the stage. Local stars like Dona Onete, Joelma, Gaby Amarantos, and Zaynara will open the show, bringing the flavor and energy of northern Brazil to the world stage. And because no event with Mimi is complete without receipts, the entire performance will be recorded for a TV special airing across Brazil.

There’s more if you’re not in the rainforest but still want to feel part of history. On Sept. 20, a second free concert will take over the Mangueirão football stadium with performances from Ivete Sangalo, Viviane Batidão, and the Lambateria Baile Show featuring Lia Sophia, mobilizing thousands to protect the forest.

The upcoming charity show comes just weeks after Carey reminded the world why she’s an icon at the 2025 MTV VMAs, where she was presented with the coveted Video Vanguard Award and shut it down with a medley of her greatest hits. Now, she’s heading straight from the bright lights of Hollywood to the heart of the rainforest to prove, once again, that nobody does it like Mariah when it comes to unforgettable performances.
